![]() I have heard from several people in Europe and Scandinavia who would like to knit and crochet warm items for those in need there, just as those of us in the USA make items for LDS Humanitarian. I have been in touch with Church Officials over there, and they told me that all knitted or crocheted items (hats, mittens, scarves, warm blankets, OR baby items) can be sent to this address: Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints
I was assured that they will happily take these items personally to the humanitarian missionaries in Romania for distribution to the needy on one of their trips there. Elder Jürgen Hasse, the LDS Area Welfare Manager for the Europe Central Area also reminded all of us of how we need to continue to help the poor and needy in our own towns, with this letter: "In general, stakes
(and wards) are encouraged to do humanitarian projects within their own
stake or ward boundaries. Local members have responsibility for the poor
and needy in their own community. Especially having very few members in
the established wards and branches of the European Nordic countries. The
local members could do wonder, being engaged in social work and helping
the poor which are close by in their own community. This would help not
only the poor and needy but the local church to get recognized more fully
and will attract more people to join a church, which cares for their poor
and needy neighbors. The Church in general is taking care of humanitarian
projects in the emerging and initial countries. There are missionaries
called in a number of emerged and initial countries to care for the poor
and needy."
