Christmas Stocking for Pine Ridge Reservation

Approx 6-1/2 inches wide, 14 inches long
Gauge using size J hook and worsted weight yarn
2 pattern rows and 1 sc row = 1 inch
4 sts = 1 inch

MATERIALS
3.5 oz. red or green worsted yarn
1.5 oz. white worsted yarn
J hook

patt = sc in first st, (dc in next st, sc in next st) repeat across row

Make 2, reverse directions for 2nd half

 
Row 1...Ch 20, sc in back ridge of 2nd ch from hk and remaining chs, (ch 1 and turn, now and at the end of each row) (19sts)
Row 2...sc across
Row 3...patt across
Row 4-25... Repeat R2 and R3...ending with R3

Row 26...sc across to last st, 2scs in last st (20sts)
Row 26(2nd half)... 2scs in first st, sc across

Row 27...(sc, dc) in first st, patt across (21sts)
Row 27(2nd half)... patt across to last st, (sc,dc)in last st

Row 28...sc across to last st, 2scs in last st (22sts)
Row 28(2nd half)... 2scs in first st, sc across

Row 29...(sc, dc) in first st, continue in patt across (23sts)
Row 29(2nd half)...patt across to last st, (sc,dc) in last st, ch 3, turn

Row 30...sc across, ch 3, turn

Row 44...skip sirst st, sc across to last st, 2scs in last st, continue sc in ends of rows all the way around ending, join and fasten off

Top:
Hold both halfs together with wrong sides together. Attach white yarn to corner through back loops of both halves and sc around entire stocking to other corner, sc around top , do not join, do not turn...work in rounds around top
sc in next st, dc in next st around until you have 5 inches of white. Fasten off and fold over stocking.

Hanger:
ch 21, sc in back ridge of 2nd ch from hook and rem chs.
fasten to back side of stocking
