Row 1: Sc in
2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1 and turn
Row 2: Sc in
2nd sc from hook and in each sc across. Ch 1 and turn
Row 3 - 48:
Repeat
row 2. End off leaving a 12" tail of yarn.
Sew side seam shut.
Backstitch 5 sts.
For top notch...
Weave needle and yarn tail
in and out through the 5th row down from top. Pull tightly to
form
top notch. Make several sts woven back and forth to hold the top
notch tightly. Cut yarn. Turn hat upside down.
BRIM
Attach yarn and Sc 38 sts
evenly around brim. Don't join. Go around 2 more times for a
total
of 3 rows of sc.
TURN around to make the
shell
edge.
SHELL EDGE is done
in back loop only around. Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc) 4 dc in same
st.
*skip 1 stitch, sc in next st. Skip 1 st. 5 dc in next st*.
Repeat from * to end of
brim
row. This makes it so you can roll up the brim and it is really
cute!
End off. Weave in tail.
