Here is a handy crochet hook holder that you can make in an evening.
It's great for you to store your hooks or for making for a present
for a crocheter you know.  For a gift you can include a couple of hooks too.

Scrap of 4 ply worsted weight yarn
Size G (4.00 mm)  or H (5.00 mm) hook
Ch 29
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook.  Sc in each ch across row.  Ch 1 and turn.
Row 2: Sc in each st across to end of row.  Ch 1 and turn.
Row 3 - 24:  repeat row 2.
Crochet in sc around the entire holder to finish.  On corners do 3 sc.  Finish off and tuck in tail thread.  You can sew ribbons on each side to roll and tie shut if you wish.

As you can see from the photos you can place the hooks in there whichever way works for your hook-- sideways or up and down!
