Bev's V-Stitch Soap Sack
Copyright Beverly A Qualheim 2023
I am making these for Mesa Valley Estates (Assisted Living and Memory Care) who cared for my dad for 19 months.
These hold the soap in securely so that the bars don't drop and have to picked up, which can be dangerous for older people.
This will be on-going and if you want to help, please send soap sacks (with soap or without) to:
Bev Qualheim- PO Box 427, Logandale, NV 89021 USA

Materials needed:
Size I (5.5 mm)
Cotton Yarn
Scissors, yarn needle
Size of completed soap sack = approx 3.5" wide x 6" tall
Bar of your fave soap!
Abbreviations: Ch = chain; sl st = slip stitch, hdc = half double crochet

ss startChain 6 (you are going to crochet around this foundation chain.)
<--- Rnd 1: Make 2 HDC in 2nd chain from the hook, make 2 hdc (= V-stitch) in next 3 chains, 4 hdc in the last chain -- (now go around the back of the chain) make 2 hdc in next 4 chains, join with a sl st in the middle of the 1st V, ch 1.
Rnd 2 - 12:
2 HD in center of each V-Stitch, join with a sl st in the middle of the 1st V, ch 1. (10 Vs)  (TIP: between V-stitches it will look like you are skipping 1 stitch. That's how I tell where to put the hook for the next set of 2 HDC's)
Rnd 13: Hdc in same space, ch 1, *hdc in the next V stitch, ch 1, repeat from * around,
join with a sl st in the middle of the 1st V, ch 2.
Rnd 14
: 3 hdc in each stitch around. Slip stitch in 1st hdc and cut yarn end.  Weave in ends.
Drawstring: Ch 60.  Weave in and out through Rnd 13 holes.
Place a bar of soap into the bag. Pull tightly and tie the drawstring into a bow, OR Tie the 2 ends together at the top.
